Conservation & Sustainability
As part of our ongoing commitment to conservation, we actively invest in the removal of alien vegetation such as Hakea and Wattle, which poses a great threat to the delicate and unique Cape Floral Kingdom and the preservation of healthy waterways. All timber from this alien removal is used for firewood, and the remaining wood chips in our gardens and pathways.
We are proud custodians of ancient Bushman rock art found on the reserve and are committed to preserving this cultural heritage for generations to come. We adhere to rigorous waste management systems, striving to minimise our environmental footprint and protect the natural beauty of our surroundings. There are a number of camera traps on the reserve, monitored by the Cape Leopard Trust, to better understand and protect the Cape Leopard and other animals endemic to the region.
All guest fees include a small contribution to the Drakenskloof Conservation Fund, helping us continue our conservation efforts in this important region.
